Eastern Sound Co. Ribbon (Unidentified)

This model may have been sold mail order through the Montgomery-Ward catalogue.

This is one of only two ribbon microphones in our collection that do not use clamps to secure the ribbon. The ribbon is simply glued and soldered in place to make the electrical connections. Soldering thin aluminium is not for the faint hearted - it needs a specialist solder and some degree of skill to avoid oxidising the foil. It would have saved a few small parts and shaved a few cents off the price.
