Melodium Mélosphéric 22A

Microphone History:

From the Melodium catalogue of 1954

The Mélosphéric 22A is a dynamic microphone of the same type as the renowned 75A, with essentially the same performance, but in a new and smaller form.

It is designed as a 70 mm diameter sphere with a stamped grille and a moulded rubber cap on one side facing the diaphragm, and a locking plug attached to the mount on the other side.

A dynamic microphone element, with the same general construction as the 75 A, is enclosed in this spherical housing, all of whose metal parts are protected and decorated by anodic oxidation.

The swivel mount has a threaded sleeve with a pitch of 12 x 175 for mounting on a floor or table stand. The microphone's shape makes it virtually non-directional in a horizontal position and completely so in a vertical position, due to its complete symmetry (in the horizontal plane).

It also has the advantage of negligible diffraction effects.
