Microphone History:

From the Melodium catalogue of 1950:

MELODIUM Dynamic Microphones 75 A - 75 AAD and 55 A

A complete range of MELODIUM dynamic microphones, these devices are pressure-type: they feature an air-cushioned acoustic chamber and a compensating device that standardises their sensitivity between 50 and 10,000 Hz. Their shape allows them to be considered relatively insensitive to feedback.

Recommended for experienced technicians who care about quality, these microphones are stable, robust, wind-resistant, and low-humidity. They can be tropicalized upon request.

They come in the form of 60 mm cylinders. diameter, equipped at the front with a vertically adjustable perforated grille and horizontally adjustable brackets, with a 12 x 175 threaded base for mounting on a table stand.

The TYPE 75 A Dynamic Microphone has three balanced connection terminals on the rear. Types 75 AAD and 55 A have a locking plug on the rear.

Their response curve varies little with the angle of attack. A difference in efficiency between the front and rear waves of 5 decibels, or a voltage ratio of 1 to 1.7, is only evident at very high frequencies. The microphone can practically be considered non-directional.

Case decorated with oxidised silver plating.

From the 1954 catalogue:

The MELODIUM 55A dynamic microphone is essentially identical to the 75 A model, except that the voice coil impedance has been increased to 50 ohms for use with certain standard lines and that it is equipped with a locking output plug. The grille is perforated by stamping. The oxidized silver-plated housing is vertically adjustable and mounted on a horizontally adjustable bracket. A 12x175 threaded base allows it to be mounted on a table stand or the floor.

This microphone is particularly intended for broadcasting and in cases where equipment interchangeability is essential.
