Microphone History:
From the owner's manual:
"The OmniMouse was designed to provide the commanding, larger- than-life sound associated with the most sought-after (and most expensive) vintage orchestration microphones. With its luxurious high-frequency response, focused mid-range, and outstanding bass response, the OmniMouse captures the full range of symphonic and choral recordings naturally and musically with depth and clarity. The OmniMouse also excels at ambient recording, capturing room tone with the most intimate detail — whether for rock drums, guitars or even vocals — any application where some natural space in the recording is desired."
MoMics view:
Blue Microphones (BLUE = Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics, LLC) built some stylish and radical microphone designs in their early years. Between 1995 and 2005 most of their microphones were manufactured in Latvia and/or USA. The company moved much of their production to China from around 2005, and changed hands several times before finally being bought by Logitech in 2018. The company phased out the "Blue" branding on their microphones in 2023.
The earliest Latvian-built microphones included the Mouse, OmniMouse, Dragonfly and several others, which were high quality studio microphones intended for professional use. In later years they focused on the prosumer and podcast markets, which were no doubt larger and more lucrative.

MoMics view: The OmniMouse from Blue is a quirky looking but professional quality omnidirectional microphone. The capsule is a spherical type which is similar to (and probably based upon) that of the Neumann M50 which was used widely for orchestral recordings and in particular for the Decca Tree array, which typically uses three omnidirectional microphones.
There are very few spherical capsule microphones in production at the time of writing. Those few include the Neumann M150 and the Braingasm Ocula.
