Microphone History:

The 'PML' logo on this microphone tells us that it was built before 1980, when Pearl Microphone Labs changed their name to Milab.

From a post by Sam Inglis at the PRW forum:

"The ST-8 is a stereo condenser mic with two rectangular capsules, and the lower capsule can be rotated by up to 180 degrees using a ring on the mic. The internal amplifierd use FET transistors but it cannot be operated with standard 48V phantom power. It comes with a custom power supply which connects to the mic via a 19-pin cable.* The power supply has a pattern control for each channel which allows a wide range and combinations for recording XY, Blumlein of Mid-Side stereo . The mount attaches to the stand by a ball and socket, allowing the mic lots of freedom of movement yet locking very solidly with just a quick twist. First impressions are that it is quite ribbon-like, both in the sense that it's not amazingly bright, and in that it needs a lot of gain."

* Some models have different connectors.
