Microphone History:

Released around 1932, the RCA PB‑90 (MI-4000) debuted as one of RCA’s earliest ribbon microphones. The PB‑90 is considered a precurser to the RCA type 44 and was later marketed by RCA as as affordable alternative.

The microphone pictured has an internal transformer that is labeled and dated 21st September 1934. This means that it was born on the same day as legendary Canadian songwriter Leonard Cohen.

The PB-90 in our collection is fitted with an optional boom mount for use on film sets. The loops in the mount can be used to tilt and rotate the microphone remotely.
