Technical Description:
From the Toshiba data sheet for the model G ribbon microphone (translated from Japanese).
G-type unidirectional microphone Model name OB-1062
The G-type unidirectional microphone is a high-performance ribbon-type unidirectional microphone used in broadcasting, recording, theaters, and other places that require the highest quality characteristics, especially when you want to pick up only the sound coming from the front of the microphone. In addition to music programs, it is also widely used for lecture announcements and public address systems to prevent feedback.
The G-type unidirectional microphone is a particularly small and lightweight ribbon microphone with a cardioid pattern. Its wide pickup angle, as shown in the diagram, makes it suitable for so-called one-point pickup in music. It also helps avoid rear noise from the audience in public broadcasts and is effective in avoiding harmful reflected sound in venues with poor acoustics. Furthermore, careful consideration has been given to magnetic induction, making it suitable for use as a hidden microphone in TV and theater applications. It also comes with a bass tone adjustment device, which can be useful when the sound source is very close to the microphone.
