"The microphone supplied with the recorder is interesting (Model EL3757/00) in that it is a single-unit stereo model employing two inserts set up at right-angles to each other within the plastic casing. Three little splayed-out legs with contemporary terminations give it a very stable footing on any flat surface. The inserts are medium-to-low impedance dynamic, and they are located in correct orientation by ensuring that the label 'stereo' on the microphone casing is pointing at the centre between the sound sources. On mono, the lower of the two inserts is used, and for this application correct orientation is attained by rotating the microphone 45 degrees in the clockwise direction. There is no difficulty in securing full modulation during a recording on one or both microphone inputs, and speaking about 12 inches from the microphone requires an approximate three- quarter setting of the microphone recording level control to give maximum deflection of the fluorescent indicator, at normal speech level. Signal quality is extremely good."

GENERAL INFORMATION
The microphone is designed for magnetic tape recording. The microphone system consists of two capsules, each with its own signal leads but sharing a common shield. The "Stereo" plate indicates the sensitive side. The capsules have a cardioid directional pattern; they are mounted one above the other and rotated 90° relative to each other. This microphone provides good stereo reproduction over a 90° pickup angle and can be used up to approximately 180°.
SENSITIVITY
At 1000 Hz, the sensitivity measured at a distance of 70 cm from the sound source is 0.23 mV/µbar. At 1000 Hz, the impedance is 500 Ω. These sensitivity and impedance values apply to each capsule individually.
REPLACING THE CAPSULE
- Detach the microphone from the stand or tripod after unscrewing the screw located at the bottom of the microphone.
- Unscrew screw A. - Remove the lower half of the housing.
- Unscrew screw B. - Remove the upper half of the housing.
- Desolder the wires from the old capsule and solder them to the new one.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
MoMics note: The microphone has a 3/8" threaded socket in the centre of the base. The three legs may be removed and the microphone screwed onto a microphone stand, making it very versatile.
